Peer Review Process
All submited manuscripts undergo a double-anonymous peer review: both authors and reviewers are anonymous to each other. Authors will need to anonymise their manuscript before submitting their paper and therefore reviewers will not be aware of a manuscripts author when carrying out peer review.
Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts electronically. All articles will receive a tracking number at the time of submission that will be communicated to the authors. The submission will be approved by the journal’s administration and forwarded to the editor. Authors should agree with the fees per page before continuing with the review process.
The page fee is mandatory, and currently costs $US 40 per page (MS Word file of submitted document, excluding pages of figures and tables), with a maximum of 6,000 words for research papers, 4,000 words for research notes and a maximum of 12,000 words for review papers and essays. The editor will assign two qualified reviewers from the journal’s administrative database and/or from the list of three reviewers that authors must provide at the time of their submission (the proposed reviewers must belong to institutions other than those of the authors). Reviewers should complete their reviews within 4 weeks.
The most relevant acceptance criteria are: 1. The subject matter must be within the scope defined by International Journal of Agriculture and Natural Resources (formerly Ciencia e Investigación Agraria). 2. The article should be an authentic unpublished scientific or technological contribution. 3. The description of the materials and methods should allow other researchers to repeat the investigations described if necessary. 4. The objectives of the study should be clearly stated in the last paragraph of the introduction. 5. The references should be relevant and used properly in the discussion of the results, 6. Authors should demonstrate an appropriate use of research design and statistical analyses consistent with the conclusions of the study. 7. Authors should provide fewer than four self-explanatory tables and/or four figures. 8. The article’s conclusions should be expressed in the last paragraph of the discussion, and they must respond directly to the objectives of the work.
If the observations made by the reviewers are relevant and clear, the result is reported directly to the authors. If there are differences of opinion among the reviewers, the manuscript is sent to the technical editor for a final resolution. Authors will receive comments within three months. Authors should provide a revised version of their manuscript within 60 days. Before manuscripts are accepted, the authors must address all of the suggestions made by the reviewers.

Conflict of Interest Guidelines
for Reviewers

Other editorial staff members who participate in editorial decisions must provide editors with a current description of their financial interests or other conflicts (as they might relate to editorial judgments) and recuse themselves from any decisions in which a conflict of interest exists.
